The Team

How long does it take?

All semi permanent appointments are about 2 hours long, which includes a consultation of around 15 minutes.

What happens during a treatment?

There’ll be a consultation where we’ll make sure your natural colourings, face shape and desired look are all carefully considered before creating a template for your new look. Once you’ve decided on the colour, shape and/or thickness, we’ll begin carefully implanting the pigment into the skin. Your eyes will be closed for most of the procedure, with the lids gently held taut to reduce blinking and movement. If your eyes are prone to watering, don’t worry – this won’t affect the finished results.

Will it hurt?

You should feel very little discomfort. There’ll be a numbing treatment applied to the area, which is topped up throughout the treatment. We use a numbing agent on some treatments so discomfort is very minimal. Throughout your eyebrow tattooing treatment your artist will check with you to see if you’re in any pain. Our clients usually rate the discomfort as about 2 out of 10, if that. Regarding the lips, your artist will infuse the colour into your skin using a pen-like device, carefully shading your lips with tiny doses of pigment that are deposited below the skin’s surface to create your new lip contour or blush.

What kind of training do the artists have?

Miss B. holds an extensive portfolio of diplomas. Graduating from PhiBrows and Baltic Brows and the Noyma Academy. You’ll always receive state-of-the-art procedures, using the highest quality equipment.

Will I be able to go back to work straight afterwards?

It’s up to you. There may be minimal swelling and redness after your treatment. This will disappear after 24 hours.

Do you provide aftercare?

Yes, a complimentary tune-up and aftercare products are included with all Eyebrows and Lips procedures ONLY.

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup is commonly referred to as a “cosmetic tattoo”, but it’s not a traditional tattoo at all, nor is it really “permanent”. Tiny amounts of natural pigments are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin, not the epidermis (where a regular tattoo goes). Because of that, results will last a long time, but will eventually fade in approximately 1-3 years. This is perfect since faces and trends change!

Who is the ideal candidate for Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup is perfect for busy women (and yes, men!) who are looking to save time and want their look to stay perfect around the clock. People who have Alopecia, light, half eyebrows or eyebrows with bald spots love our microblading brow service. People with eyes sensitive to makeup and those who want fuller looking, more defined lips love lip tinting. Permanent makeup is also a great solution for those with oily skin that shed makeup easily, athletes, swimmers and beach goers who want to sweat and get wet without their makeup running, and anyone wanting to boost their confidence!

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic technique used for creating and filling in eyebrows. A handheld microblade pen applies pigment in individual strokes creating extremely lifelike, fine lines of color that resemble hair.

How long does the procedure take?

Time will vary with each individual and area being covered and whether it’s your first time or you’re coming in for a touch-up. It takes our experienced technicians an average of one hour for each procedure. The total time to expect at our studio for your first session (including consultation, color selection, and application) is about two hours.

What's the recovery time?

There’s no downtime; you can go back to work right after your eyebrow, or lip procedure. It’s normal to have some swelling on the lip and eye, and/or some minor scabbing on eyebrows. Your custom color will initially look 20-30% bolder than what the final result will be after about a week when it settles in. It will take about six days for the skin to completely heal. Our clients generally walk out ready to take on the rest of their day with no discomfort. Get more details on eyebrow, and lip tinting aftercare instructions.

Are the procedures painful?

We’re here to make your experience as pain-free as possible! Our technicians use effective topical anesthetic ointments that numb the skin, and they are happy to apply as much as needed to keep you comfortable. Everyone experiences pain differently, but most of our clients say the pain is mild to moderate, comparable to eyebrow tweezing. We even see clients that are terrified of needles and have no problem with our application.

How is my permanent makeup colour(s) chosen?

Using over 40 hypo-allergenic pigments, your technician will custom blend a color for you. You’ll work with your technician who will get to know your personality, assess you face shape and coloring, and make design suggestions as to color, thickness, and shape. The final decision is always yours, and you’ll see your color before it’s permanently applied. Our clients love having a makeup artist’s opinion. In some cases our clients have stepped out of their comfort zone based on a technician recommendation, and they’re so glad they did!

How long will permanent makeup last?

Permanent makeup is long-lasting and will slowly fade over the course of 1-3 years. As you become accustomed to your makeup, it’s not uncommon to want more. To keep your makeup looking fresh, we recommend having it retouched every 1-2 years. Darker colors, such as black eyeliner, will last the longest. Natural, delicate colors are more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and your skin’s natural emollients.

What is the downtime?

Can I go back to work after the procedure ? Yes you can. Your makeup will look darker when you first get it done, but it doesn’t mean that you have to take time off of work. Many people choose to schedule procedures on a Friday, so they have the weekend off before they return to work. Lip color will produce puffiness in the skin for two days post procedure, and your skin will heal completely in about six days.

Can I wear makeup after the procedure?

It’s essential to keep the procedure area clean and free of bacteria, therefore, you cannot put other types of makeup on top of your permanent makeup for one week after the procedure. However, on areas where permanent makeup was not applied, you can wear what you normally do.

Who should avoid getting permanent makeup?

For safety reasons, the following should not have permanent makeup applied: - Areas that have had fillers (like Juvederm) should be avoided as well as any areas that have problematic skin conditions like skin cancer, eczema and psoriasis. - Pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. - Anyone with contagious blood diseases like Hepatitis or HIV. - People who are currently undergoing chemotherapy. - Those who have keloid or hypopigmentation. - Roaccutane and steroid users. - Diabetics. - Anyone under the age of 18

How do I take care of my permanent eyebrow makeup & lip tint after the procedure?

To achieve the best results, follow the below guidelines after your procedures. It’s normal for the area be slightly tender, itchy and appear darker for a few days as the skin develops a thin scab. Scabs will begin peeling 4-7 days after your procedure. When the scabs fall off, your permanent makeup may appear lighter than you expect. Don’t worry, it will darken to your customized color as your skin finishes healing.

Do’s and Dont’s permanent makeup:

- Don’t get the procedure area wet for four days. To avoid this (and still be able to wash your face) we recommend applying saran wrap over your eyebrows. After washing your face, remove and dry any water. - Wash the area for 30 mins after the procedure and then every 2 hours the next day. - Don’t rub, peel or scratch the treated area, or your pigment could be removed and healing will be uneven. - Don’t apply lightening products (such as retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids, hydroquinone, etc). - Don’t apply makeup or any other creams and lotions except your healing ointment to your eyebrows until after the area has healed. - Don’t expose healing skin to direct sun (or tanning beds), hot tubs, saunas, pools or direct shower spray for approximately one month after your procedure. - Don’t tweeze or wax your brow area for at least two weeks after your procedure. - Do apply ointment sparingly, with clean fingers, if the area feels tight and dry (preferably once a day in the morning, but up to 2-3 times a day). - Do use sunblock after the area has healed to prevent fading. - Do let your doctor or dermatologist know about your cosmetic tattoo before any chemical peels or MRI’s. - Do contact your doctor if you notice any signs of infection. - If you have had cold sores, chicken pox or herpes, lip tint procedures might trigger them to resurface. Should you notice any signs, immediately apply Bactroban. If symptoms persist contact your doctor forthwith.

Do’s and Dont’s lip tint:

- Don’t rub, pick, peel or scratch the treated area, or your pigment could be removed and healing will be uneven. - Don’t apply any lip makeup except your healing ointment or a high-SPF lip balm to your lips for one full week (water contact is okay). - Don’t expose healing skin to direct sun, tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, pools or direct shower spray for approximately one month after your procedure. - Don’t eat spicy and salty foods for a week after your procedure. - Do take your antibiotic as prescribed. - Do keep your head elevated at night as you heal. - Do apply ointment two times a day with a clean cotton swab (not your fingers!) - Do keep your lips sealed when washing your face or brushing your teeth. - Do contact your doctor if you notice any signs of infection.
